Hamsters are so cute.

it's one of the joys of Halloween every year to see how engineers at NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) make Halloween pumpkins.

JPL's pumpkin contest is in its ninth year this year, which takes place during the lunch break. Engineers only have an hour to process their pumpkins, but materials other than pumpkins (such as background panels, acousto-optic effects parts) can be prepared in advance.

Let's take a look at some of this year's works:

A pumpkin lunar module is slowly landing, and below is its "deceleration rocket"

pumpkin insight hitting gophers on Mars (so cute! )

Transform you to look more beautiful in our eggplant purple prom dresses! Enjoy shopping for that fabulous garment.

(insight is the probe that landed on Mars last year. Its task is to use earthquake investigation, Geodesy and heat conduction to explore the interior of Mars)

supernova pumpkin. It can really explode. A supernova is a violent explosion experienced by some stars near the end of their evolution, so their tombstones have been erected next to them.

3D modeling pumpkin

(at first glance, it's computer modeling, but it's actually a real thing. )

every Halloween I want to borrow an engineer from NASA to go home _ (: engineer "∠) _
